A meeting of the committee of tho Nelson Jockey Club was held at Mercer's rooms last evening. Present, Mr E. E. Trask (President), in tho chair, Messrs J. F. Hardey, G. M. Rout, J, Hagon, J. H. Finney, W. Coleman, J. K. Bartlett, H. Baigont, and F. W. ' Fa i rey. The.offer of Mr J. Ames to work tho totalisator at the forthcoming meeting was accepted. It was resolved that the secretary (Mr J. Glen) be nominated to lie a representative of district clubs at tho New Zealand Racing Conference. The railway timetable submitted by the railway manager (Mr T. E. Edwards) was approved, with a suggestion that the 1.4 p.m. train leaving Nelson for Richmond be brought forward half an hour if possible. It was resolved that a deputation consisting of the president and town members of the committee wait upon the Mayor and ask him to in vita shopkeepers to close their premises at 11.30 a.m. on the first day o£ tho races. Th« secretary was instructed to furnish the information asked for by tho secretary of the Gaming Act Commission. Arrangements were made for tho compilation and printing of tin; race cards. It was resolved to supply tho owners of all horses nominated with the list of acceptors. The question of engaging a band was left with the town members with power to act. A number of other matters in connection with the forthcoming meeting were discussed, and arrangements made to have them oarried out. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to tho chair. Owners are reminded that acceptances for the first day's races (March. Ist) close, with the secretary at Mercer's rooms on Monday next at !) p.m.
