DISCOVERY OF COAL.

IN THE COLLINGWOOD DISTRICT.

Another discovery of ooal Las been made in tlifr Collingwood district by Mr. A. Forbes. The seam is located on Mr. R. A. G. Filleul's property at Tanpata, which adjoins tho Puponga leases. The seam as at present opened out shows sft 6in of coal, and it has not yet bcpn bottomed. There is no doubt that the seam is a continuation of the one at present being worked by the Puponga Coal Company. The outlet is withm ten chains of high water mark, so that little difficulty should be experienced in shipping by thci small craft trading in the. Bay. The coal, which is how being worked by .Messrs. |A. Forbes and G. W. Riley will be known as the North , Cape Coal, and wiil shortly bo placed on the market. It is an excellent household coal, burns well and leaves a light brown ash. Up to the present it lias not been testod for steam purposes. A sample sack of the; new coal, has been, left at this office! which, persons interested are invited to inspect.
