SHOCKING ACCIDENT.

Dunedin, August 22. A very serious accident occurred on the barque Ganylnede atPort Chalmers this afternoon, the victim being" a man named William Clements, who who severely scalded. Owing .to the valve in the donkey engine blowing out, Clements was scalded by the .steam from head to foot. The unfortunate man groped his way to a small aperture and escapedto the deck. -Thei skin on his face, legs, feet, chest, and arms was badly scalded, and waß hanging down in places. He was re>moved to the Hospital, where lie is progressing as well as can be expected. Clemonts belongs to Wellington, where he has a wife and four children, to whom 'he intended returning this week.
