A BUSH TRAGEDY.

MURDER OF A GIRL,

THE FATHER DETAINED,

(Received April 20, (HO'a.m.) Sydney, April 19. A tragedy, is' reported from_ Willoughby, where the body of the eight year old daughter, of a labourer named Phillips was found buried in the bush a short distance from the home where she li|red with hc\r parents. There was a wound on the head, and a deep gash in the throat, almost severing the head.

The girl was reported missing on Saturday, and the police had. been searching sincei, and the body was discovered through a man who, while gathering flowers, ' noticed tßat the ground had been recently stirred, *" As a result of statements made by Mrs Phillips and a" servant, the police» have detained Phillips. Sensational developments are expected.
