NELSON OLUB. On Saturday sftornoon the "feather" ir.r.'.r.-iX •■ :a continued, when the holders (.Littlejohn' s rink) went down to that of Watts'. At tne 18th head the scores were even, but Watt gradually drew ahead, and notwithstanding two successive "dead heads" by Littlejohn, the former won by 22 to 19, thus giving his side a fairlysafe position as this season's winners. There are still a fe^y games to play, but the result is hardly likely to be affected. The teams were Clutten (sub for Crawford), Menzies, Cress woll, Watt (s) 22; Baigent, Jacka, E. H. Bisley, Littlejohn (s) 19. Lyell Cup: Heaps beat E. J. Allen, Harkness beat Squires, Rutherford beat Wright. Tho date of closing of the present round has been extended to Wednesday next. On Saturday afternoon a number of bowling friends of Mr D. Watt met in the club house and made to this esteemed bowler a small presentation in appreciation of his efforts during the season on behalf of the Club. Mr J. King, the secretary-, made the presentation, and voiced the feelings of Mr Watt's many friends in the efforts put forward by the recipient to promote the welfare of the club .and especially during the Easter tournament, when he worked very hard in the arrangement of matches and teams. Mr Watt, who was received with applause,and who was taken very much by surprise at the token of good will, thanked his friends for their unexpected expression towards him, which he much appreciated, and while he had done certain work in the interests of tho club, he had no idea arid expect no reward for such service. Armstrong, Mayor of Akaroa, who is a keen bowler, is at present on a short visit to Nelson, and was present on this green on Saturday afternoon. Three rinks are assured for the visit to the Takaka at the end of the present woek.
