A BOOKMAKER FALLS IN.
[United Press Association.] W'.'.lington, April 15. George ~.L'.'.\;:, - j>ung man describing himself as a licensed bookmaker, was charged at the. Court to-day with stealing £6 from a farmer. Ihe allegation was that the accused had induced the informant the nigfht before the recent races to give him £6 to put on a "good thing," which would pay about £10 dividend. Next morning, the countryman's suspicions were aroused, and he demanded his money back; but Milloi' refused to give it. The defence was a denial that the money was ever received by the accused. Mr ltiddell, S.M., said that the question was one of credibility, and sentenced the prisoner to one month's imprisonment.-
