The work on the roll is proceeding satisfactorily, and tho secretary reported that he had secured : lie public schools at Brook nnd Hamp■ie.n streets for meetings on Monday md Wednesday next. Mr Pettit announced that he would speak at tho Port on the open space between the Union Company's office and the Post Office on Thursday evening at eipht o'clock, for the convenience of the Port residents. Satisfaction was <?x---nressed by tho members of tho committee with the excellent way the candidate handled his subject at tho Theatre on the previous evening and his references to tho increase in' the overdraft were considered very timely SHcine; that it had been promised that would have been secured. The candidate announced that he had booked the Theatre for the evening bofore polling day, and the executive intimated that all other necessary arrangements had been made. MR PIPER'S CANDIDATURE. Mr Piper's committee meets on Ylonday evening.
