Inquiries made at the office of the Waihi Gold Mining Company went to show that, as far as the mine was concerned, there is no reason whatever for the weakening tendency. There has been no fall in, the assay values, the mine is keeping up its -output of recent years,'and atf a matter of fact .thadir-ectors confidently anticipate another- record output, amounting to something like £975,000 this year. The London market has not been the causo j of the drop, ijnd the reason for the fall must be looked for locally. It was further stated that the public need have no -cause for anxiety and that, owing to the soundness of the mine, things '■ must eventually right thsmeelvoju . '
