The first exemption under, the United States law of 1907 forbidding the entry of ailiens suffering from comi municable diseases has been granted in the case of George Romanes, son of the founder of the' Romanea lectures at Oxford, who is suffering from tuberculosis. He was allowed to proceed to Colorado after giving a bond for £200 to observe precautions.
