LABOUR VICTORIES EXPECTED.
MR DEAKIN HAVING A HARD
FIGHT.

Although the returns are very incomplete there are indications of a Labour victory in New South Wales and Victoria.
Mr W. M. Hughes and Sir William Lyne are both safe. Mr Riley (Labour) is leading Mr Eden George (Liberal) by 7000 at Ballarat. Mr Deakin is having a hard battle, Mr Russell (Labour) leading him by 1000 in returns totalling 8000 votes. There are, however, 26,000 on the roll. The returns from Queensland are small. Mr Fislier ,the Labour leader, is level on the voting with Mr Stumm (Liberal) with many returns yet .to como.
Mr Fuller, Minister for Home Affairs, has a safe lead, for Illawarxa. The High Commissioner's, Si'^ George Reid's seat, East Sydney, is almost certain to be captured by^Labour. (Received April 14, "OSO a.m.)
Mr Deakin is improving his position. With 11,000. votes counted he has reduced his opponents- lead to 400. Labour is leading in-14" electorates in New South Wales. Labour carried the day easily at Newcastle.
Mr Cook, Minister of Defence, is safe. Messrs Deakin and Fisher continue to improve their positions. Sir John Quick is having a hard fight in Bendigo. He has now obtained a small lead. , '■ .
