RESULTS IN VICTORIA,

[Press Association— Copyeight.]

Melbourne April 12. During the three seasons the Government control with respect to stallions for the public service in Victoria has been in operation, 2664 animals have been examined, - whereof 1937 were certificated, and 691, or 25.5)3 per cent, were rejected. Of the rejects 442 were on the ground of hereditary unsoundness, and 269 as below the standard of Government certification.

The report of the chief veterinary officer states that unsoundness of an hereditary character still exists to a considerable extent, and there are a considerable proportion* of sires unfit for their purpose on account of mongrel characteristics. During the past season the New Zealand Government certificates had' been accepted in con nection with 33 stallions imported from the Dominion.
