MEN'S CLUB

Christchurch, April 11. The locker system was discussed at a meeting convened by the no-license party. The proceedings at time were somewhat lively. The speakers were Mr T. E. Taylor, M.P., the Rev L. M. Isitt, and Messrs Avery and Manning. The last mentioned alleged that Mr A vory was expelled from the Sydneham Working Men's Club for reasons other than any connected with the locker system.
On the motion of Mr 'Taylor, seconded by Mr Isitt, it was resolved ihat the meeting desired to call the attention of the Government to the abuses existing in connection with the sale of intoxicants at the Sydeuham Working Men's Club, as alleged in a public statement of Mr. Avery's, a recent member of the Club committee, and urges that an immediate investigation of the matter be Made by the Stipendiary Magistrate with a view to '.ho charter of the Club being cancelled, and tho abolition of the locker system.
