Auckland, April 9. Tho opening day of the . Avondale Jockey Club's autumn race meeting took place to-day. The results were: Maiden Plate— Penwarden 1, Kiysyth 2, Sir Rupert 3. Also started, Miss Grizzle, Yankee, Lloyds, Tui Kitau, Parra, Alarm, Para wai. Maroon and Black, Okirae, and Siola. Won by a length. Penwarden was the favourite: Oakley Handicap : Blue Garment 1, Impulsive 2. Waiata 3.. Also started, Tohunga, Tahi, Tarina, Lady Dot, Necktie, Lady Francis,' All's WeU. Won by a length. Handicap Hurdles: Dunborve 1, Te Arai 2, Celtic 3. Also started,.Castadrift, Sable, Hoanga, and Flying Cloud. Won by two lengths. Juvenile Handicap : Antoinette 1, Master Wairiki 2, Musk.ewai 3. Also started, Echo, Lucille, Dumas,D»'ighboy Hamadryad, Kapanga, Veitalia, and Miss Ada. Won by three lengths. Avondale Handicap, of 200 soys: Manapouri 1, Santa Rosa 2, Sir Artegal 3. Also started, Wauchope, Tattoo, and Mahenq, Won by a length, Sir Artegal half a length away third, then came Wauchope, with Tattoo last. Titirangi Handicap : Haldane 1, Oy-j rene 2, Jena 3. Also started, Admiral j Soult, Miss Advance, Zinnia, Doggerbank, Prince Lea, Fuss, and Cj'rone. Won by a head. Chevalier Handicap : Parawaatu, Sir Rupert 2. Leefire 3. Also, started, Frontine, Fremantle, Haka, Goldwing, What-a-shot, Mary Anne, Patricia/Flying Soult,- Mayroff, Toatere, Lady Ferris, Favourite, Sabine, and Eton Boy. Won by a .neck.
