The Commissioners of Customs prosecuted Ellis, Kislingbury and Company for importing by the Omrah 33 cwt of Victorian butter containing 18.2 per cent of water. Defendants pleaded that the Government's certificate did not mention the excess of water. They regarded tho certificates as being practically Government guaranThe Magistrate at Tower Bridge, in imposing a fine of 40s, said the people who iuspected the butter before shipment ought to be before him.
