A CHAIN PARTS. Last night's attempt to raise the vessel proved unsuccessful, the heavy chain attached to the Nikau being unable to withstand the strain. When the water rose the chains made fast to the Nikau and the Waverley, on cither side of the sunken steamer, tightened until an immense strain was placed upon them. The superintending engineer, Mr Brown, is of opinion that the Koi's lee side is deeply embedded in the sand. Another attempt to raise the vessel will be made this morning. • '
