Corkil], the bailiff/: charged with .the iuurdcr of Christopher* Smith in Pipit<?a 'street several weeks ago, by shooting, was to-day committed for trial. The defence was reserved. .The evidence given was the same as at tho inquest, showing that accused^ who is an elderly man, went into the house, in the execution of hisduty, arid had a scuffle with Smith, following on which it is alleged, that Corkill drew a small revolver and shot Smith, "who died almost immediately. . .'.■'. .
