Tiie Rev Mr Mathews, rector of Jatsfield, and formerly of New South Vales, in a letter to "Tlie Times" con--ratulates its Australian correspondnt upon his courageous and outspoken itterance regarding the treatment of narried immigrants. He attributes heir treatment to the callousness of ompauies or non-resident squatters >wning a large proportion of tlio pasoral lands. Every expedient hasbeen esorted to to curtail expenses and ugment profits. He warns owners hat unless they grapplo with the )roble*m in the right way .a Governnent will arise that will compel them o relinquish large portions of their loldings, or tax them out of exist>nce.
