FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET

The New Zealand Fniit aj)d Produce Co., Ltd., report on the Wellington fruit and produce market as follo.ws: — Prices for both dessert and cooking apples are still low, only the best dessert meeting with any demand. Ordinary pears are dull of sale, but a good demand exists for best eating varieties, viz., Autumn, Nellis, Winter, Cole and Marie Louis. The potato market is still firm. Vegetables are^ruling about the same as last week. Eggs are meeting a much better salo and we anticipate a decided rise during the coming week. Following are the prices realized during the past week-. Potatoes 5s to 6s 3d c\rt; onions 3s 9d to 4s. owt; swedes 2s 3d cwt; turnips 2s 6d sack carrots 3s to 5s sack; parsnips 4s 6d to 6s sack; beetroot 2s~6d to 3s 6d sack ; cabbage Is 6d to 4s 9d sack ; cauliflower 4s to 6s sack; peas 6s to Us 6d sack; marrows Is to 2s sack; tomatoes Is 3d to 2s case; beans (French) 3s "to 4s 6d sack; beans (broad) 2s to 3s 6d sack-, lettuce Is to 3s case; cucumber 3s tops 6d case.
