EXTRAORDINARILY RICH QUARTZ.

EXTRA PRECAUTIONS FOR WORKING THE QUARTZ.

Reefton, Feb. 25. The "Inangahua Times" this evening states that the Wealth of Nations and Energetic mine, one of the Conr solidated Goldfields Company's properties, is now the subject of much expectation. This mine recently sank i another level to 1900 feet, and struck ] good stone. Recently, however, 'rumours were current concerning the extrordinary wealth now laid bare in the number nine level. It is stated indeed that the reef shows more gold than quartz, and specimens of marvellously rich gold have been reported to have been flashed around by the workers. Some colour is now lent to the reports by the company, - which will not give a statement, striking off the night shift, and only working the mine when trusted officials are at hand.. Indeed the level is said to be almost closed to any but the managers, and their assistants. By these only is any stone taken out, and at every shot tho bagging is placed tq catch the least .particle of the precious stone. It is currently reported that £500 worth of stone went up in a single truck. The officials keep the closest watch on tho stone from thj race to the battery It is also state 1 that dressing •xwn:? are also to be erected for tho men to change in . Even if the rumour is discounted, it is evident that the find is the greatest that has ever occurred in the history of the Inangahua district, as it is extensive, as well as rich. Great excitement is oc- [ casioned by the discovery.
