NOMINATIONS, HANDICAPS, AND ACCEPTANCES. Date of NOMINATION and ENTRANCE for Trial Hack— Monday, 14th March, 9 p.m. HANDICAPS for First Day's events declared on or about MONDAY 28th March. ACCEPTANCES for First Day's events— MONDAY, 11th April, 9 p.m. Second Day's HANDICAPS— WEDNESDAY, 20th April, 8 p.m. ACCEPTANCES for Second Day up to 9.30 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, April 20th. RULES. 1. Definition of a Hack — Hack moans a horse that has not at time of nomination won a race of the value of 100 soys or races of the collective value of 250 soys since the Ist of August, 1899. 2. All protests must be accompanied by a deposit of £2 (with the exception of trots when the deposit must be £5) which shall be forfeited should the stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious. 3. All nominations close at the Secretary's office, Nelson, on Monday 14th March, at 9 p.m. 4. Nominations must be made in writing addressed "Secretary Jockey Club, Nelson," or if sent by telegraph must be confirmed by letter first mail afterwards, and to be accompanied by the necessary fees ; also name, age, colour, sex and pedigree of the horse, and colours to be worn by the rider or driver. Any owner neglecting to furnish this information at time of nomination will be fined £5. 5. The flat races will be run under the rules of the New Zealand Rules of Racing. The trotting events will be run under the Rules of the New Zealand Trotting Association. 6. The winner of any race after the declaration of weights may be rehandicapped. 7. Rule 163, Rules of Trotting— By the entry of, or endeavouring to enter a horse, every person having, or subsequently acquiring any interest in such horse, shall be deemed to accept all the conditions and restrictions »m---posed or implied by these rules, and to be barred from questioning the action or conduct of the Club or oilier body holding a sports meeting or of any official of the Club, or such other body in respect of such horse or any person connected therewith, otherwise than is provided in Part XXX. 8. The names of tho trainer and owner, or owners must be included in all acceptance forms when acceptances are sent in, in default of whioh tho owner or trainer may he fined a sum not exceeding £5 or disqualified. 9.
