Melbourne, Feb. 26. The captain of the Papauui has asked for an inquiry to absolve him from blame in. connection with the striking of his vessel on the Tasmanian coast. Tho Victorian Marine Board has communicated with the Tasmanian authorities, who have replied that as the rock will be now charted, there is no necessity for an inquiry, as it could only absolve tho captain from blame.
