Mr Lange.rmain, speaking in, tho Chamber of Mines at Johannesburg, said that of the world's gold output totalling 91 millions in 1909, the Transvaal contributed £30,925,788. Referring to the continuous fall in Australia's output, he said it appeared probable that at no distant date the world would look to Africa for the largest proportion of the gold supply. White labour in the Witwatersrand mines had increased 18 per cent compared with 1908.
