SPLENDID RECORDS. [United Peess Association.] Christchurch, Fob. '->■<> Splendid shooting was made by the members of the Lytteiion <let£«!.— *>:;t \ of the R.N.Z. Artillery, who -at the conclusion of their ten- days' camp carried, out their annual class-firing at Fort Jervois on Thursday last. Two series, were fired from the 6-inch d.l.h.p. guns, and were remarkable for accuracy and rapidity of shooting. The firing was done under the superintendence of Lieutenant Sandle, 0.C., and the results are- stated i to have established a record for New Zealand, for the class, of guns. In the .first series ;six. shots were fired from the 6-inch gun, "- and five hits were scored, ■; fhe average . time per round T>eing 42 seconds. The standard time per round is 55 seconds, so that ii will be seen that the shooting was dono in ■- -.exceptionally, fast time/ The results of thp second series rwere even better, Six shot's .were fired, and all registered hits, while the average time per round was only 37secs, which is phenomenally fast and is -a record for the Dominion."
