MOTOR TOUR THROUGH THE COUNTY.

On Saturday His Excellency _ and J party wore the guests of the \\'aimea County Council in a . motor tour of the district. Leaving Motueka, where Ills Excellency was accorded a hearty send oil, at half past nine in the morning, the party, in three cars, proceeded by way of .Bangatotara, Woodstock and Stanley Brook to Tapawera, whore they were 'received and entertained at luncheon by Cr and Mrs G. Macmahon. The roads were in splendid order, and the beauties of the scenery along tho banks of the Motueka river were much admired by His Excellency. At Stanley Brook the Council had taken tho precaution to have horses in readiness to pull the cars over the fqrd, but fortunately their services were not required, the foid, which was. vca-y low, being negotiated in capital stylo and without difficulty by the cars. The Councillors in attendance were Crs Best (chairman), Macmahon and Drummond, and Mr S. Blomfield (County Clerk). „ -After lunch and a short rest at Mr ■■ Macmahon' s fine; homestead, the party continued their journey to the Waimeas via Spooner's Range, from the summit of which a magnificent view of the Waimea plains, and surrounding valleys, with the sea in the background, was obtained. A pleasant run along the splendid roads through Belgrove and Eoxhill brought the party to Wakefield a few minutes after three o'clock.
