A meeting of Association football players is convened for this evening at Snow's rooms. The Mayor has invited citizens to observe Monday next as a whole holiday, -and the Nelson retailers notify that premises will be closed, on the occasion of His Excellency's \isit. Tho Public Works Department invites tenders' for alterations at the Government buildings. Owing to Monday next being a holiday the pay-days of the Permanent Building Society of Nelson" have been altered to Tuesday and Wednesuay, instead of Monday and Tuesday as usual. The- pay day of the Terminating Building Society will fall on Tuesday next, owing to the holiday on Monday. Wie remind our readers of the bazaar to be held at "Werneth," Wakapuaka, on March 3rd. Knapp a number of parents, past pupils, and sympathisers met at the liaiupden street school last evening to inaugurate a movement to orecfc a memorial to the late Miss Sunley. Apologies tor unavoidable absence were received from Mr A. T. Magiliuity, chairman of the Education Board, the Rev. J. H. MacKenzie, cliairman oi the lowju Schools (Jonnuittee, ".Jid Mr W. Lock. Mr l)oidgo'was voted to the chair. Various proposals were brought forward as "to suitable forms wliich the memorial might take, and . after some discussion it was decided that subscribers be called together to decide this when tho collecting is completed, and amount available for expenditure known. A committee was set up to arrange, for collecting, consisting of the following: The Rev. J. H. MacKenzie, Messrs A. T. JVlagiiinity, W. Lock, F. V. Knapp, Doidgo. Wimsett, J. Walker, W. W. Suod- . grass, C. Sherwood, and Walkey,Mes- ■ dames W. C. Harley, Lemmer, J.. W. Ne^alt, and Misses Kitching, Shone, llaikes, Wright, Hood, and Bond. Mr F. Y. Knapp was elected secretary. The committee met subsequently, and decided to issue subscription lists immediately, the. opinion being generally expressed that there would be no difficulty in raising a sufficient sum to erect a worthy memorial to Miss Sunley, whose memory will be cherished by many who have been fortunate enough to come under her influenos. . ? ~ .
