SWIMMING.
, The Nelson Amateur Swimming Club's annual sports will be held at the Port to-morrow afternoon, commencing at 2.30. An attractive programme of events, for which numerous entries have, been received, has been prepared, and a capital afternoon's sport may be looked for. A polo match Town v. Port has been arranged, and an exciting contest is autjeipated. . At the Swifts Club's carnival, at Wellington, last Saturday, B. C. Freyberg broke the New Zealand lecord for 100 yards, cutting out the distance in Imin. 4secs. The record was Imin. ssecs., and the standard Imin. 6secs. R. Healy also swam well in the same race, which was lor the centre, championship, and was only defeated by the best part of a yard. i'Veyberg will represent Wellington in the 100 yards, 220 yards, and 440 yards championships at the New Zealand championship carnival at Auckland. J. Emerson and W. Champion, of Nelson, wiJ also bo competitors at the New Zealand championships. The recent Australasian swimming championships were a triumph for Beaurepaire, who was .successful in all events. "His great pace, judgment, and physical soundness promise even greater things," says the "Referee."
