MINING NEWS.

NEW ALPINE REPORT. (Special to "'ihe Colonist.") . Creymouth, Feb. 17. Tiie following is a copy of the mine manager's report for the week ending loth February, 1910: "No 7 crosscut was extended 17ft, total south SOt't. The ground continued hard for the greater part of the week, but it is better ground during the past two shifts, with a small band or soft slate in the middle of the drive. The ground is running mostly north and south (direction of crosscut), and. -I think before we can get any reef the country will have to come more around to the east and west (cross, the direction of crosscut), as the ground is underlying to the- west."
