RAILWAY SERVANTS' CONFERENCE.
[United Press Association.] Wellington, Feb. 17. At to-day's, sitting of tho conference of delegates of the Amalgamated Society of- iiailway Servants, an important letter from the Minister of .Railways (Mr Jl A. "Millar) was considered. The Minister asked that the question of railway men of the second division coming under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act bo put before the Conference. He added that if the men decided, to come under the Act, railway men should be on, exactly the same footing as the ordinary public in regard to railway fares, and pay the same rates as members. . .The conference expressed the_opmion that the letter was sent, by tne Minister at a very, opportune time from his point of view. It was proposed: "That this Conference docs nob feel justified in expressing an opinion on siich an important proposal without first taking an expression of opinion, from members of the Society." . , , Ultimately it was decided that consideration of the letter be deferred.
