CITY -RECEPTION COMMITTEE.

The members of the' Reception Committee met last night, when there was a good attendance. The Mayor presided. - Colonel Joyce reported that -arrangements had been made for a guard of honour, and two mounted escorts. It was resolved that the school sing two verses of the National Anthem after the address was presented to the Governor. It was decided the Mayor should propose the toasts of "The King and "The Governor" at the luncheon and Mr Duncan, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, that of "The Mayor and the City Council," to which the Mayor and Cr Grace (as the "senior councillor) are to respond, it was emphasised that owing to the length of the afternoon's programme, the speeches would have to be brief. It wa's resolved that seats be reserved near the platform on the Cathedral steps on Monday for 1842 and 1843 sett.ers and that the Mayor introduce the old settlers to His Excellency. The . Mayor stated he proposed that the Governor after the luncheon be first driven to the Alexandra Homo, then to the Hospitals, thence to the Boys' College afterwards to the Girls' College, and thence to the Suter Art Gallery. In order to give a little more tiirie for 1 ' the visits to the public institutions, it was resolved that the function . at the Art Gallery of unverling Julia's memorial picture take place at 4.30 instead 0f. 4 p.m.

' It was stated that the College Governors with tlie Principals would receive His Excellency at tho Colleges. It was .resolved that a centre table be reserved at the luncheon for ladies and their escorts.

Tljfi Mayor said lie was pleased to state that satisfactory arrangements had been made about the Governor's visit to Richmond, and he . would reach there about 5 p.m. on Saturday, which would give time for the proposed functions.

It was stated thirty tickets had already been sold for the luncheon.

It was stated the procession would leave the Oddfellows' Hall in Waimea street at 10.30 on Monday, proceed by Hardy street to the junction of Bridge and Trafalgar streets, then open out in. two lines along Trafalgar street. His Excellency will be driven from the Masonic Hotel up Hardy street, down Collingwood street, along Bridge street to Trafalgar street, where the procession will fall in behind his carriage, and escort him to the Cathedral steps, where the Mayor and City Councillors will meet arid welcome him.

The Town Clerk reported that the Harbour Board and Government departments had lent plenty of flags for the decorations, and those bodies were thanked for their kindness. The members of the committee expressed their appreciation of the complete arrangements, and the good work done by Mr Edmonds, the Town Clerk.

The meeting then adjourned

His Excellency the Governor on his arrival at Motueka from Takaka this afternoon will be accorded a reception by the Mayor on behalf of the residents. In the evening he will ho entertained at a banquet by the Motueka Borough Council and the Waimea County Council.

To-mocrow His Excellency will be driven through the county, arriving at "Wakefield about 3 p.m., and Richmond at 5 p.m. Nelson will be reached in the evening.
