Mr John Barr, Mayor of Eastbourne, a suburb of Wellington, is at present in Nelson for the purpose of enquiring into the drainage system of the city, and to ascertain, if a similar system, with modifications to suit local requirements, can bo adopted by Eastbourne. ;

Mr and Mrs G. Page, senior, who are about to pay a visit to England, were farewolled at an enjoyable social held in the Christians' meeting house on Wednesday evening. Mr "Vv. L. Jones presided. Several eulogistic addresses were given, in which references were made as to the faithful guests in the church. During the evening presentations were made to both Mr and. Mrs Page, and. they were the recipients '-of -many good wishes from those assembled. Air and Mrs Saxby, being about to return to Sydney, after spending nearly three months iii the district, were bad© good-bye. Some complimentary remarks were made as to the very great help rendered by Mr Saxby to the churches both in the city and the country districts.
