It is reported that the Railway Department has suspended, pending an official inquiry, tha . locomotive fo?eman and fitter at one of the stations on the.Stawell line, in connection with •that statement that a brake had failed in theßeauf ort railway accident. The Trades Hall has carried a resolution viewing with alarm the; increasing number of railway accidents, and condemning the policy of the Railway Commissioners, whose desire to show a profit was leading to the undermanning of the service.
