TROPICAL AUSTRALIA.
CAPABLE OF EUROPEAN COLONISATION. [Press Association — Copyright.] London, Feb 9. Professor George, late of Melbourne University, read a paper before the Geographical Society on geographical conditions controlling Australian development. His conviction was that there was no region in tropical Australia which Europeans could not colonise. It would be possible to te&l in 20 years whether the colonisation of tropical territory by whites would be practicable within a reasonable time. If not, coloured races might be admitted under stringc.nt regulations, confining them to this area.
