Thane, cashier at the Ljllj branch of the Bank of France, called at a fashionable private .house to receive 4000 francs, when he was robbed and murdered, his -body being discovered in the garret. Antoine Favier, tho owner of tii« house, absconded. Six thousand Lillo townsfolk tried to lynch Madame Favier, who was arrested, but mounted police rescued lier.
