In making a silo, of whatever material (and a silo- may be made of almost anything:), care must be taken to have the in sides smooth to ensure | the close packing of the green stuff. A great deal of carelessness is displayed by farmers in leaving their imi plements exposed to the sun and rain. The cost of necessary implements to j work a farm is no small item, and all I implements should be under cover when not in use. Mr Stein, an English sugar befit enthusiast, estimates the return for the grower from a crop of beets at £5 to £6 an acre.
