THE BOTTLE HOAX. [Press. Association— Copyright.] __ Melbourne, Feb 5. A bottle has been picked up on the beach near Sale containing a message purporting to have been thrown, overboard while the Waratah was sinking fast in latitude" 4 degrees eas^longtitude 130 degrees south, signed by J. Millburne. No .such passenger s name appears on the list. There was one Millburne on board, but he landed at Durban. - g A bottle has been picked up on the Newport beach, near Broken Bay, containing an ill-spelled and clumsilyscrawled message, alleged to have been written by a man on the Waratan announcing that the vessel was slowly drifting south to Victoria Land, and that she had lost her rudder and propeller. 'The police authorities attach no credence to the message.
