PERSONAL.
The Hon. Thos. Mackenzie, Minister of Agriculture, altered his arrangements and came overland from Takaka yesterday and is proceeding on his way overland to the West Coast by special conyeyance without coining into towji again.
The Hon. Thos. Mackenzie has signified his willingness to pay another visit to Motueka, writes our correspondent, and it is understood the Horticultural Society will invite him over for the autumn show on Easter Monday.
Welliugtoii papers announce the wedding of Miss Meta Johnston, the second daughter of Mr Sydney Joluiston, to Mr D. H. Riddifard, the second son of Mr Riddiford, of the Hutt.
On leaving Dunedin to return to Nelson, Mr S. F. Sherwood was presented with a purse of sovereigns by the members of the St. Clair Bowling Club. Mr Sherwood, in responding, said that though he was going back to the place where he was born and brought up, he felt it a wrench to move from Dunedin, where he had made many fast friends, especially amongst his comrades of the green.
Colonel Ryan, Mr G. Churnside, Sir Samuel McCaughey, and Mr T. Newton, all prominent Australians, are now paying a visit to New Zealand.
The deaths are announced of Mr Hector E. Gardner, a member of the well-known firm of Gardner Bros., timber merchants, of Masterton; Mr Joseph Kneebone, an old Coromandel settler; Mr Hay Robert Stanners, formerly connected with the Lands Department.
Mr and Mrs Andrew Weir, of London, motored the other day from Napier to Rotorua.
