On his way back from Takaka (writes our Motueka correspondent) thtt Hon T. Mackenzie was met at Rhvaka by Messrs C. E. Lowe and H Everett, and entertained at lunch at Mr H. T. Goodwin's Travellers' Rest Hotel. Tho Minister was then driven round the district, and visited the orchards of Messrs Lowe, .Everett G. Deck and D. B. Fry, arriving at 'Motueka in the evening. He was driven round the Motueka district yesterday morning by Mr Ryder. Tho Minister expressed himself vi high terms of praise of the district, and was surprised at tho extent and quality of the different orchards. Me stated that arrangements have been made for Mr Hallam, orchard inspector to go to Tasmania to collect all available information re shipping fruit to England, and on has return a shipment of 6000 cases will be made from Nelson. • ..*. n The grading of the local fruit will be done here under Mr Hallam' s supervision, tlie Government guaranteeing the growers one penny per pound.
