ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

The pfogramnre contained fifteen items, and as there were esghi" •recalls (four in each part), the entertainment was a lengthy, one. Bandsmen Hughes and Austin opened" with ; an enjoyable instrumental duet. Divider the leadership of Mr Longwortlv the members of tlie Ladies' Club ex-; ! hibited their skill . with 'lndian clubs., and. were greeted with much applause; > Miss Constanc,o" -; Armstrong--: sang---1 "Rose Buds," and received an enthusiastic encore. The Rev. J. J.Lewis recited "The Arab's Farewell to his Steed," and on being recalled; gave "Othello's Apology." The gymnastic display of the members of the-. Men's Club with German wands wa«so good that it had to be repeated: Mr A. G. Thompson was recalled for his singing of "The Rebel," and Mr E.'. Heap's caricatures .were entertaining. The members of tlie Ladies'. Club opeued the second part of the: programme -with a gymnastic display; with' Swedish wands, which had to be repeated in order to satisfy the audi-'., ence. Tlie duct, "Awake," given by Mr and Mrs A; G. Thompson was.-, very enjoyable. "The Death of Minef liaha" was well recited by Mrs CGraham. Miss Marie Fraser receiv-, od an encore for heoty-song, also Mr Parker for his banjo solo. Mr A. P. Lucas ' sang "Werner's PartingSong," and was greeted with much applause. The "Dream of Home" was capitally siing by . Miss Hetty Richards, who was recalled; The members of the. Men's Club gave am:- -: excellent display in forming pyra■"riiMs, and the -performers and tjielir conductor (Mr Longworth) wereheartily applauded. ; Mr Norman," Williams and Miss Flossie Nicol did service as aecompa/nists. The successful entertainment was brought to a close with the siuging of the National Anthem.

The first anniversary' services of tho Wesley Young Men's Institute Were held iii St John's Church yesterday, and attracted largo congregations. In the morning the Rev J. J. Lewis preached a most interesting sermon on tho text, "If ye can find a man." In the afternoon there was a combined meeting, the members of the Bible classes being present. A special choral fiSrvice wes held in tho evening, when the choir gave an excellent rendering of tiie oanfate, "The Good Shepherd," which was preceded by a short address delivered by the Rev J. J. Lewis on "The Shepherd of Palestine." The service was most enjoyable.
