THE GYMNASTIC DISPLAY,
(Fi-bm "The Colonist," Dec; 10.) The annual gymnastic display took place at the Nelson College last evening. The competitions created nuuoli interest, and the competitors were greeted with applause. '.' The judges were Messrs G. H. . Broad and • 11. Cooke. The maximum marks for the dumb .bell and clubs drill were 40 each, and foi- tlie .- gymnastic -feats 300. The competitions were commenced on Wednesday evening, and the finals were decided last evening. Miss Lorimer, at tho conclusion of the programme distributed the prizes to the following winners:—. Dumb bells: Knight, 37, 1; MacNab, 32}, 2 ; Bullard, 2S, 3. - Clubs.- W. King, 36J-, 1; Bullard, 34, 2; Duigan, 30, 3.. Gymnastics': — Senior division : Tull ; y 236, 1; E. King, 234, 2; Gilmour, 220, 3. .'.'■"- Ditto, junior division": Bean, 245, 1; Shaw, 221, 2; Watson, 212, 3. Ditto, under 14 years of age: Hudson, 237 1; Mitchell, 218, 2; Skeet, 212, 3. While the judges were adding up the marks, the College orchestra played the 'Maoriland waltzes arid the College Glee Club sang "Sweet and Low," and "Kentucky. Homo," which were much appreciated. "",
