CHARGES OF ASSAULTS AGAINST CONSTABLES.
[United Press Association.] . " Wellington, May 22. Tho adjourned case against Constables .Gardiner ' and Watson, charged with assaulting Mr «nd Mrs Rolfe, was partially heard" to-day. James Ashbury and William O'Neill, botli seamen on. the steamer iiaipara, gave evidence that, they saw the defendants and Constable Clay scuffling.' Subsequently they, saw the defendants striking at Mr /and Mrs Rolfe. As Mrs Rolfe was still unable to appear, the case was further adjourned until next Saturday, May 31st. .
