HATCHING OF SALMON OVA.

Out of the 510,000 Atlantic salmon ova which arrived at Port Chalmers on April stli by the Rakaia from London, 485,000 fry have been hatched. It will be remembered that 380,000 ova were taken to Lake Te Anau, and 130,000 to the Hakataramea hatchery. At of 160,000 English ova 149,000 fry have been hatched, and out of 220,000 Rhino ova 212,000 fry have been hatched. At Hakataramea out of 10,000 English ova 9,000 fry havo been obtained, and 120,000 Rhine ova "have yielded 115,000 fry. Thejrc was isome delay in shipping the ova, which was kept in cool storage in London till the departure of tho Rakaia, -.but, notwithstanding the detention of the ova the hatching has proved well up to the average.
