Speaking at the dinner to the Australasian press delegates at Ottawa on Wednesday, whereat Australian wines were served, Earl Grey referred to the unanimity of; both parties in Canada in their readiness to make sacrifies to maintain Britain's naval supremacy. While the Empire had become a solid unit on the question of defence, the patriotic spirit animating the great continent of Australia had attracted much attention, and the labour Ministry's action in the matter of military training proclaimed to the whole world that the honour of the Crown was as safe with the humblest • sons of toil as with the proudest nobles in the land. (Cheers). The offer of gallant New Zealand, with the population of half the province of Ontario, caused the blood of every Briton in all parts of the world to pulse more buoyantly in his veins. (Clieers}. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Mr Cunningham and Mr George Fenwick also spoke. •"'•-.■■".
