THE MAILED FIST.

HOW RUSSIA WAS OVERAWED. LONDON NEWSPAPER COMMENT. THE ANGLO-AUSTRIAN AGREEMENT. Received March 29, 9.50 a.m. London, March 29. The "Daily Mail" states that victory was secured by a free use of the mailed fist. The two German Powers, with eleven million men and 20 Dreadnoughts building, thwarted a triple entente by sheer weight- of arms. "The Times' " Vienna correspondent reports that the agreement between England and Austria is complete. . Servia is beginning-to discharge the resemsis. The Powers to-day will invite Servia s£o supplement her last note with the formula agreed upon between Baron Aehrenthal and Sir Edward Grey. Austria afterwards requests Britain to consent to the abrogation of article 25 of the Berlin Treaty, including the sanctioning of the annexations, which Britain concedes, at a meeting conference of the .-Powers being left an open question. It is understood that Servia undertakes to reduce her armaments to the normal level, and to preserve neighbourly relations. Summing up the situation, the correspondent adds : "Austria has spent thirty millions on mobilisation, but the army is -readier than it has been since 1889. Germany's assurance of full military and diplomatic support strengthened the alliance, and left Austria nnder a deep obligation, . upon which Germany certainly will not hesitate to draw."
