HIGH LIFE IN LONDON.
Some remarkable disclosures were niade in -tLe Bankrapicy Court, in the silting for the public examination or Mrs Grace Adele Ansell. a widow described as late of Westbourne Mansions, Hyde Park. Accounts had been filed showing liabilities £38,752 of which £11,882 was returned as unsecured, and available assets £572 It appeared that the debtor had been ■m receipt of an annuity of £2000 under the will of her husband, who died in October, 1905, and of a net income oi £1150 derived from invested funds comprised in her marriage settlement. She attributed her present position chiefly to her household and personal expenses, estimated at about £29,000 since 1905, having exceeded her inccme. In August, 1904, she purchased a 30-years' lease of the premises, 36 Hertford street, and stables SuSr .H? ad - mevrs 5 Malfair, for £boso, which was partly raised on mortgage, and her present deficiency was further accounted for by depreciation (returned at £4012) in the value of the property and furniture. In answer to Mr W. P. Bowyer, official receiver, the debtor said that she lad betted a little on horse-racing, but had not; lost any substantial amount. -Her furniture and effects, valued at £2500, were covered by a bill of,, sale given in November, 1908.
