INTERESTING PARTICULARS. ..(Special to ' 'The Colonist.") Christchurch, March 28. The Otira correspondent of ."The Press" writes that the Otira tunnel has now reached its thirty-fifth chain. Boring is only, proceeding at a medium pace, the rock -still being very hard. A seventh drill was being introduced, and the drive, is being rapidly enlarged to its full dimensions.' . • 'Efforts are being made to establish a branch of the Legion of Frontiersmen among the men at the .works. •Mr James Jack is acting as organiser, and he hopes to muster a large body of. men,. who -will undergo training in military signalling, in bush signs, i scouting generally, and .. rifle . shooting. For the last-named" purpose a range has been proposed -dose to the tunnel. . Two surveyors have offered their services free in connection with the marking out required.
