PURCHASE OF FOREIGN WARSHIPS UNNECESSARY.
Received March 25, 9.40 p.m. ■-. London, March 25. In the House of Commons, Mr Me* Kenna, replying to Viscount Helmsley, said it was not desirable to secure tlu refusal of the foreign battleships now being built in England. If we wanted ships we should build, ourselves. Our superiority in strength in 1909-10 would be so great that their purchase by another Power could not alarm the Admiralty.
