ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
COLLAPSE OF A ROOF. ' [United Press Association.] Wellington, March 24. ;' Through the collapse of a steel roof in course of construction at the Gear Company's Petoiie works a number ot workmen were injured. Samuel Wilson, among other injuries, sustained a compound fracture of the leg, and was taken to the Hospital, but he died there. The worse cases among the others are those, of Stanley. -Sowner, three ribs broken, and a thigh injured ; and Thos. Cross, a well-known representative footballer, whose side and back aro injured. ■ ' . No explanation is given tor the collapse of the roof, but it is suggested that the severe heat yesterday caused the principals at one end to oud" e "Snd carry away the supports There were eleven steel principals, each woighing two tons.
