- Twenty-one pantomimes were in full swing in London and suburbs on New Year's Day. Five special children's plays were also running at^the same time.
There are about 2000 schools in the Dominon, yet the Mnister of Education stated a day or two ago that only 140 of them had applied for he recognition of swimming classes. A very large number, probably a largo proportion, of the schools have no facilities for teaching this useful art, but 140 of them had applied for the reeogthose within easy reach of stream or pool good enough to learn to swim in. It would not be amiss to require the teachers of the future to be able to swim: for if a man cannot swim himself, it would bn imposible for him to teach his boys how to swim, whereas a swimmer would in most cases find it a nleasure to do so. — "Timaru Herald.'* -J -
