The naval correspondent of the 'Tall Mall Gazette" wrote a few days ago :— "lt. is 'on the .' ; cards, that the New Zealand Government intends obtaining a second-class cruiser for use as a training ship. Negotiations to that end ar£ in progress with the Admiralty. Probably the Retribution, or one of her class, will in. 'the ond be selected for the duty. The Admiralty might just, as well let the colonies have these ships as sell them for scrap-iron." :;
