DAIRY REGULATIONS.

- Hamilton, March 13. - The dairy conference arranged by the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union, held at Hamilton this afternoon, exhaustively considered the proposed regulations. Mr Allen Bell- was. in .ishe chair.;.. Forty ' delegates were present, , also' Mr Clifton, the Chief Inspector,x)f' Stock. ■ .;■ Mr.. Bell- explained the form of the regulations, which were then considered in' detail and "numbers of deletions, additions, and modifications were made. ' -
# The following resolutions were carried :— •
That before any inspector -makes a . That before the Inspectors institute proceedings against , dairymen the latter have the power to refer'tlie matter to the Chief. Stock Inspector before appearing at Court.
That before and Inspector 'makes, a round of inspection of the dairies the dairy; company of .the district appoint two representatives to accompany him on his- inspection: ■■ That farmers' be granted free railway carriage on. material to .be used in iihe cons'tructiori. of cowsheds " or yards. ' .
. That the Government should not be averse to considering " reasonable, vecommendations made by the dairymen of the country. -^
Mr: Clifton explained the proposed regulations from the Government's ■point; of view. . He answered a.. numr •ber, or : questions.-. .''■• Is.1 s. - ... _. Several speakers expressed, the"'opinion that;the regulations were nesessary only in a modified form. Intenure leases the Government should be recommend-o ed to alter the , law so as to protect the lessee for ; any permanent alterations; made to comply with the regulations) such cost to be borne by the . lessor tenant paying at least five per cent on the outlay during the remainder of his lease. ■
Further conferences will he held in different centres. ■
